Vulcano Hike, off-road and trek along the island of Vulcano

The island of Vulcano is one of the three volcanically still active islands. From the top of the Gran Cratere you can experience one of the most beautiful panoramas in the world, but that is not all: you will admire unique geological phenomena, it has shaped this places and landscapes of one of he most beautiful pearl of the Mediterranean Sea. Below we propose 2 different itineraries, the first one in the morning and the second at the sunset with a pleasant aperitif with typical sicilian specialities. Both itineraries include approaches on 4x4 vehicles and short trekking lasting a maximum of 2 hours. To participate you will have to reach a meeting point in the center of the island of Vulcano where the guide will pick you up. here below the details of both tours:

Gran Cratere - Morning Tour

With the trek at the Gran Cratere della Fossa (lasts 2/3-hours) will go to discover the characteristics of an active volcanic crater. From the top and from safe distance we will observe the suggestive fumarolic activity of an active crater. Here the approach will be on a 4x4 vehicle up to the base of crater, from here we will start to walk to reach the summit area. This trek takes place in the early Morning to avoid the hottest hours of the day. This tour is conditioned by gas emissions. The guide is costantly update about the conditions and it can happens last minutes cancellation, in this case you can require the refund of deposit.

Sunset tour with aperitif

With the sunset tour (last 3/4-hours) we will reach some panoramic points and interesting geological sites. During the excursion you will walk or will face off-road trail on voard 4x4 to reach the main sites. The first step of the tour is Punta Luccia. The suggestion of a pine and eucalyptus forest on a volcanic island in the Mediterranean, can only trigger unique olfactory and visual sensations. And that's exactly what happens along this wonderful path, you will be enraptured! Even more when from the woods we will sight a ridge of volcanic rock dive into the sea: this is Punta Luccia. Suddenly we will surrounded by a Martian volcanic landscape, made up of colors and stratifications of rare beauty. From the path overlooking the sea we pass to geological enviroment visiting some caves carved by the erosion process in the volcanic tuff rocks. Monte Saraceno is the last step of this tour and the second highest peak on the island. It is a volcanic cone with an elegant pyramid shape, that we will reach in off-road mode on a 4by4 vehicle. From the summit we will enjoy a beautiful panorama over the island of Vulcano, with the various cinder cones, eruptions and rift created over the years. On Saraceno Mount and during the sunset is scheduled the aperitif. Apertif is made of a drink choosen between a not alcholic mandarin cocktail, Prosecco or white wine and a taste of typical sicilian specialties cooked in the islanders style.
