Etna Sunset Experience, the "Golden Light" along woods, craters and lava.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The best sunset on Etna is shown on the North-West side, the wildest and beautiful, for true hikers. Our sunset tour take place just in this side. You will leave behind the tourist crowds in the busiest areas of Etna, and enjoy the placid quiet of nature with a splendid sunset!

As with anything with value, you will have to work a little. The trail is 10 km long but will give you a wonderful sunset among lava fields, craters and ancient woods. From the meeting point, in the medieval village of Randazzo we move by car (10 minutes) to reach the starting point of the tour. The path will bring you for first into a lava tube, the exploration will be done with torches and helmets provided by the guide. We will go on up to the 1981 eruptive vents, where a short off-track will lead us to the edge of some craters. From here the descent will begin through a single track on the lava, while the sunset light will shine on a huge lava fields all around.

This excursion can happend during the Golden Light*, at sunset or in in a morning session starting at 9.00. This is a tour recommended for photographers looking for 1k like shot, or for those who simply want to enjoy wonderful sounds and colors.

*GOLDEN LIGHT

​

During the "Golden Light" the light is soft, the colors warm, the shadows so long that they tend to disappear and the level of contrast is satisfactory despite the reduced dynamics. This situation occurs when the sun is very low on the horizon and therefore only in the instants after sunrise and before sunset. Its duration and intensity change according to the seasons and latitudes. On average, the duration go from 20 to 40 minutes and the intensity is greatly affected by the particular weather conditions.
