ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
This excursion is characterized by a big difference in level to walk and stunning natural sceneries. It starts from an altitude of 1100m, walking along an easy nature trail, during which we will cross some points of particular interest, such as the craters and the lava flow of 1981. After it the path became harder and you will go thorugh wild forest, climbing up steep lava fields, walking along high mountain passes, until to reach the Ice cave. Inside this tube it is located the southernmost glacier of Europe. It's a large cave dominated by a perennial glacier that in the winter season fill the whole lava tube. The exploration requires helmets and torches provided by the guide.
The return path takes a different trail along which it possible to see another beautiful vulcanic cave along different landscapes.
The actual duration of the walk is about 6h with several stops.
At the end of the excursion it is possible to experience a wine and food tasting of typical products of Etna in the historic center of the medieval village of Randazzo. Tasting price € 10 per person.
